The Accountants' Accreditation Pathway RG146 Solution

For those wanting to provide their clients with a full financial advice service, Pinnacle’s Accountants’ Accreditation Pathway covers a wide range of RG146 knowledge and skill requirements and practical advising strategies.  It also covers the compliance and documentation requirements of the Australian Financial Services licensing regime.

The Accountants’ Accreditation Pathway (AAP) comprises of:

Stage 1 – Covers the requirements to offer personal advice in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs) – so you can continue to advise on SMSFs. ASIC RG146 areas covered: generic knowledge*, SMSFs, Superannuation, basic deposit products, non-cash payment product and Skills.

*For those with a practicing certificate from CPA, ICAA, IPA or NTAA an exemption from the general knowledge chapter of study may be given.

Stage 2 – Extends the coverage of Stage 1 to include financial planning, strategic investments and risk advice. ASIC RG146 areas covered: managed investments, securities, life and general insurances. It also covers Financial Planning Essentials for RG146 legislative compliance. You must complete Stage 1 before enrolling in Stage 2.

Each stage has been designed to comply with the training requirements of the Australian Skills Quality Authority (the governing body for such courses) to ensure the course standard meets the requirements outlined by ASIC’s Regulatory Guide (RG) 146: Training of Financial Product Advisers.

Successful completion of both Stages will provide accreditation in these RG146 areas of knowledge:

  • Financial Planning (legislation and market environment)
  • Basic Deposit Products
  • Non cash Payment Products
  • Managed Investments
  • Life and General Insurance
  • Securities
  • Superannuation
  • Self Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Skills

This course offers the same flexibility in its learning and assessment as other Pinnacle courses, with an online eBook for study and completing multiple choice questions, plus an assignment to be completed in a template you can download from the website.

Upon enrolling in Stage 1 each student will have a maximum of 6 months to complete the required exams, assignment and Skills Assessment.

Upon enrolling in Stage 2 each student will have a maximum of 18 months to complete the required assignments.  With no minimum time frame for the exams or assignments, the course is designed to be completed at your own pace.  This provides the ideal scenario for completing stages during less busy times in your practice, as well as after hours when time permits.

Successful completion of both Stages will see the student awarded the Diploma of Financial Planning with the elective Provide Advice in Life Insurance, plus receive Statements of Attainment for Provide Advice in general insurance, Securities, Managed Investments, and Superannuation and SMSF.
