Have your say on the ATO Vulnerability Framework

The ATO is seeking feedback on its draft 'Vulnerability Framework'. This outlines a commitment to enhancing ATO support for individuals experiencing vulnerability when interacting with the tax and super system.

Tax professionals are often the first to recognise when a client is navigating personal hardship, mental health challenges, financial distress, or other life events that impact their engagement with the ATO.

"This is your chance to influence how the ATO responds."

The draft framework outlines guiding principles (such as empathy, fairness and inclusion), core focus areas, and an explanation of how the ATO will tailor its services and communication with vulnerable taxpayers. It is about how the ATO can better listen, communicate, and connect people with the right support at the right time.

Consultation closes 18 July 2025.
